    About Us

    WHO ARE THE SHOMRIM?

The Boro Park Shomrim are your friends and neighbors in Boro Park and Kensington, collectively volunteering thousands of man-hours per year to keep the community safe.

We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings more than 18 years ago when “the bakery boys” – a handful of bakery delivery drivers who saw acts of vandalism and other crimes as they made their early-morning delivery rounds to local food stores and restaurants, decided to do something about it, organizing themselves into a citizens’ anti-crime patrol.

CIMG8008 (Small).JPGSINCE THAT TIME, we have grown into a well-organized, professionally trained unit of nearly 100 members, who patrol our community day and night, looking to DETER crime before it happens with our presence, to RENDER ASSISTANCE to the victims should something unfortunate occur, and to WORK CLOSELY WITH THE POLICE Dep. proactively patrolling their designated sectors, our radio-equipped members are able to respond at a moment’s notice to any calls for help we field from citizens who can call for assistance on our 24-hour Emergency Hotline number (718-871-6666). Our dispatchers man the hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, to send help WHERE and WHEN it is needed (our patrol operates under the supervision of many prominent local rabbonim of our community.
